Firewood

Got a new delivery of firewood and managed to get it stacked between showers.  This winter has been so mild, we´re still finishing last year´s order.  Hyacinths and tulips are showing, and the daffodils are up too.

We always ask for a combination of birch and oak, since the birch is ideal for starting the fire and the oak is better for heat and durability.  This year´s delivery seems light on the oak, so we´ll just have to insist next year.

Someday, we will store the wood in the barn.

Happy Chinese New Year!

  1. Hi, Coco!

That's a lot of firewood! Yay! Instead of birch, we have pine or poplar for starting fires and oak, like you, for the higher BTU and slower burn.

Does Breo have spring fever yet?

  3. We all do - spring fever and cabin fever!! It´s been raining solid all week just when V has vacation.

There´s something so comforting about a big ol´stack of firewood, isn´t there?

  4. Hi Coco,

There must be something in the air, for the firewood sheds are filling up slowly here. Those are excellently sized firewood logs in the photos and I hear you about having the different species and sizes. Very wise. Enjoy your warmth. The mosquitoes are out in force tonight...

    Cheers

  5. Thanks Chris! It´s traditional here to get the firewood early so it has 9 months or so to season before you use it. We can affirm there´s a big difference in how it burns. I don´t miss mosquitos at all.
