I can´t believe I´ve found a place in Ávila that has heritage turkey breeds! It´s probably an American thing, but I´d love a couple of these strutting around the yard. (Not to mention roasting in the oven at Christmas)

Well it's a good idea, we tried this, they were named Andy and Jessie although time proved that we had got the names round the wrong way. Within a couple of weeks they had become pets, they are the most responsive of creatures, they loved to sit on our feet when we lunched outside and would purr, yes turkeys can purr, with pleasure. As you can guess from all this they did not end up as diner, Christmas or any other time.
